WHAT IS A CSA SUBSCRIPTION?

Updated 4/23/22

Note for late April: When you sign up for a CSA, please select either option for "Distribution Day". These options are currently set for Plant Sale pick up but we will be able to correct your distribution day based on your selection for "Delivery Location". If you have questions, please email farmers@middlewayfarm.com. Thank you!

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Our CSA members join the farm by purchasing a subscription to get a share of our produce either weekly (a full share) or every other week (a half share) during the growing season. Each share box contains 8-12 seasonal produce items from Middle Way Farm and occasionally from other local, organic Iowa farms with an approximate weekly market value of $30.

When members support our farm upfront prior to the growing season, we receive stable financial support we use to purchase what we need to farm and predictable demand for our produce that we can plan around. Our farm is made possible by community support.

We offer two share options (full / every week share or a half / every other week shares) and three different 7 week long subscription seasons (Spring, End of Summer, and Fall). Sign up for one, two, or all three seasons! Half share members receive 4 of the 7 weekly boxes (weeks 1, 3, 5, and 7).

Spring: May 4 - June 15

End of Summer: August 24 - October 5

Fall: October 26 - December 7

PLEASE NOTE:

There is a small inconvenience with our software that you will need to subscribe to each season individually.

Unfortunately there is no way to subscribe to all the seasons you want all at once.

Not interested in a CSA share? We also offer a weekly Online Farm Stand where customers can purchase what they want and pay as they go. All distribution locations are available for Online Farm Stand, with distribution taking place on Thursdays. Online Farm Stand is open all the weeks that we offer CSA shares (see schedule above).

Want to support the farm upfront but don't want to commit to a CSA share? You can put credit in your account to spend over the course of the season.

WHY CHOOSE A CSA SUBSCRIPTION?

CSA members get:

  • First access to farm produce. Whenever product availability is limited, CSA customers get first dibs.
  • A curated weekly or every other week box of what's in season. No need to order or decide, your vegetable supply is automated.
  • The option to add on extras from Middle Way Farm or other local producers, including eggs, bread & treats from Bread Tree Baking Co., wild foraged mushrooms, and other products.
  • A detailed weekly e-mail newsletter with produce descriptions, recipes, photos, farm updates, and farmer reflections.
  • To meaningfully invest in the farm upfront, making Middle Way Farm possible.

Partner Share Contributions

Help us raise $$$ for Local Food Connection!

After subscribing to your CSA share, we encourage you to add an additional, optional Partner Share Contribution ($5 - $100). This money goes directly to Local Food Connection, a local non-profit that purchases from local farms and provides no-cost CSA shares to folks who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford high quality, locally produced food. Middle Way Farm has between 5 to 10 Partner Share members in any given year and Local Food Connection also works with other area farms to purchase and donate food.
